Nadine Bauer | Biologist and Photographer | Germany | Mexico
Nadine felt inspired to follow her dreams as a biologist and underwater photographer, after reading “Unterwegs im blauen Universum“ by German biologist Hans Fricke,
After a few years of travelling, Nadine came to the conclusion that “the ocean is where I belong”. She went on to do an internship as a “Scientific Dive Master” and raise awareness about the importance of marine life to our planet, and how important it is to protect them, through her photography.
What is a typical day like for you?
I usually wake up, drink a coffee and then looking for a good day of diving!
When did you first pick up a camera and start shooting underwater?
I picked up my first camera when I was 15/16, but I only started shoot underwater when I did my dive master in 2021.
What do you value most in life?
Being alive, being healthy and having such supportive family and friends.
What brings you the most joy?
Diving and photography.
What would you most like to change in the world/environment today?
Over-fishing… but generally a bigger appreciation of our oceans!
Who/what currently inspires you?
Ohh a lot of people. I‘m very active on Twitter and I’m blown away daily by the talent I see there. Other than that just going out and exploring nature is what inspires me!
What advice would you give to anyone looking to follow their dreams as an ocean Storyteller?
Do it! There won’t be a “right time” to do it. Follow your heart. It will all work out.
